Welcome to our school! Harbison West Elementary is located at 257 Crossbow Drive in the Harbison area of Columbia. Our school colors are blue and white, and we are the "Harbison Heroes!" Our motto is, "Harbison Heroes CARE. Heroes care for others. Heroes care for our school, and heroes care for themselves." Harbison West (HWES) has a lot of good things going on!
What is that I hear…. I can’t help but tap my foot to the beat….Could it be Pete? Yes, it was Pete, Pete the Cat that is. On January 5, 2012 author and children’s song writer Eric Litwin spent the day at Harbison West Elementary School. Along with his guitar and a few other instruments, Mr. Eric read and sang his Pete the Cat stories. The Children of HWES sang along and danced as Mr. Eric’s contagious stories and music kept them actively engaged. After each session with the children he autographed books for the students and staff and then he spent the rest of the day visiting classrooms. The students all loved Mr. Eric and many are hoping he will be back again next year.
