State House on January 31, 2012

for
being the South Carolina Association of School Administrators'
Elementary School Principal of the Year.

South Carolina Elementary Principal of the Year

Dr. Christina Melton, Principal of Nursery Road Elementary School, has been named the 2012 South Carolina Elementary School Principal of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA).  
 
Dr. Stephen Hefner, Superintendent of Lexington-Richland, said, “Christina Melton is a respected leader in South Carolina’s education community. She is well-known for her passion, drive, and clear vision of excellence. She is known for pulling together whatever forces are needed to achieve the desired end.” 

This award was presented on Tuesday, November 29th, in a surprise announcement.

REPORT CARD

 2012 Battle on the Dam Walk
The 2012 Battle on the Dam Walk will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at 9:00 AM, beginning on the Irmo side of the dam and walking to the Lexington side of the dam.  The Battle on the Dam Walk Committee is sponsoring a t-shirt design contest for D5 students.

T-SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST

The Battle on the Dam Committee is holding a t-shirt contest for D5 students to design the t-shirt promoting active lifestyles for the 2012 Battle on the Dam Walk. The design may include up to 3 colors. If one of the colors is white, then the design may use 4 colors.
 
Each school should select one design from those submitted from their students for the contest and submit to Amee White by January 20, 2012. 
The winner of the t-shirt design will win a $50 US Savings Bond and also will be the grand marshal of the walk.  
The winner will be announced at the American Heart Association's Skate Your Heart Out, at the Plex Indoor Sports Complex, on Saturday January 28, 2012.
