Promote a safe environment What the School Social Worker Does for the Community: Should you contact your School Counselor or your School Social Worker? School social workers work with school counselors and other school personnel in assisting families in crisis. If you feel your family is in a crisis financially or emotionally and may need services including but not limited to family counseling or assistance with securing help outside of school, please contact your school social worker. If you have concerns about your child related to interpersonal or social skills, coping with life changes, dealing with feelings, academic adjustments or concerns, developmental issues, family changes, or dealing with loss, please contact your child's school counselor.
