Prepping for your Individualized Graduation Plan (IGP) prior to attending High School

The SC Education & Economic Development Act states that all 8th grade students will participate in an Individualized Graduation Plan (IGP) prior to attending High School.  This plan allows students, in conjunction with their parent/guardian and school counselors, to create an academic plan that aligns their skills, abilities and career goals.  In January, you and your student will meet with DFMS Counseling Staff to select a cluster of study based on the Lexington/Richland School District 5 Curriculum Framework.  You will receive a letter during the winter break that will note the appointment date and time.  Please keep an eye out for it!  In the meantime, take 3 minutes to view the following video created by the Career Specialist at Dutch Fork Middle that highlights the 16 Career Clusters.

      STEAM Day

All students at DFMS will have an opportunity to participate in the 2nd Annual STEAM Ahead Pajama Day on December 15, the day before Christmas break.  This is a special day sponsored by our Pearl groups where students can purchase tickets to wear pajamas to school, watch a holiday movie and then participate in STEAM activities related to the movie for the remainder of the day.  Proceeds will go towards school improvements such as better recess equipment.  Please see the attached flyer for more information!
