My Background
My education began at Seven Oaks Elementary, where I attended school through 6th grade. This is where my love of singing began. I attended Irmo Middle School Campus R (back then,) and graduated from Irmo High School. I chose to attend Columbia College on a music scholarship. After volunteering at local elementary schools, I felt drawn to education. I changed my major to Elementary Education and graduated with my bachelor's degree in 1998. I started teaching while pursuing my Master's degree in Divergent Learning, which I received in December 1999. I am a proud graduate of the first cohort of this master's program at Columbia College. I have taught 2nd-5th grades in all subject areas and AGP.
My Family
My husband and I both graduated from Irmo High School. He works full time as a high school teacher. He served as a Major in the Army National Guard for over 17 years and was deployed to Iraq during 2006-2007. He currently serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserves. We have a daughter named Abby and a son named Hayden who both attend school in the district. We share our home with our adopted dog, Finn. We are all huge Star Wars fans (including Finn.)
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, singing, kayaking, reading a good book, and breathing new life into old furniture.
