    Introduction

Our new leadership elective course implements an action-based curriculum to teach civics education and service learning to students in grades 6-8. Students collaborate with career mentors to design and implement solutions to current social problems. Our student-led project teams create positive change through community partnerships and purposeful acts of kindness. We develop responsible and respectful citizens transformed by the power of civic engagement. This leadership program prepares our students for college, career, and civic life in the 21st century.

Our school mission is to shape a diverse community where students create high-quality work, care for the well-being of themselves and others, and engage in meaningful service which impacts local and global communities. As part of an international magnet school, we aim to inspire all students to become model global citizens and provide the tools for them to be successful as part of an international community. Global themes, action research projects, and case studies will help to develop our students' world awareness and civic responsibility as we build our leaders of tomorrow.
