Mrs. Leverett

A little about me:

Hello! I am Sarah Leverett and will be teaching Learning Strategies with the Five Virtual Academy. I spent 11 years in the early childhood classroom where I cultivated my passion for the developmental stages, brain research, and early intervention. I joined the District 5 family 7 years ago as a schoolwide instructional assistant while working on my masters. I am passionate about reaching all learners, but especially those that learn differently, have trouble connecting with others, or need help being understood. I support a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) that provides the opportunity for all students to access, participate in, and progress in the general-education curriculum by reducing barriers to instruction. With that in mind, I take every opportunity available to share my passions in the areas of social-emotional learning, brain health, assistive technology, and the importance movement and exercise has on the brain.

My family:

I like to be busy, but I like it that way! I am married with three crazy children that always keep life interesting. My oldest son will be in 11th grade at CHS, my middle son will be in 7th grade at CMS, and my daughter, Rosa, starts 4th grade at Piney Woods. When I am not reading books about the brain, I love hiking, eating sweets, drinking coffee and collecting records for my console table!
