Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Rosa Diaz-Grant

I am originally from Guayaquil, Ecuador, South America and became an American citizen several years ago. I have been teaching Spanish at all levels for many years here in South Carolina, as well as in Ecuador.

I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Universidad Católica de Guayaquil. Later on a scholarship I completed my masters in Social Psychology from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana, and my masters in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language from Universidad de León, Spain.

I came to South Carolina 20 years ago with an organization that recruited teachers from overseas. I met my dear and late husband at Dreher High School. My only son lives in Charleston and he is single. I have three stepsons, and five grandchildren. I have one brother who lives with his family in Ecuador and my mother lives in Chile with my stepfather.

I live with my beautiful and sweet Maltese mix, Bentley, who keeps me very entertained.

I very much enjoy traveling with family and friends, reading or watching a good movie. I also like to assist with the betterment of the Hispanic community. Last, but not least, sharing my first language and culture with others, especially with my students.

I believe the most important skill and attribute to be an outstanding teacher is caring for the students. To sense the academic and emotional needs of the student will help to establish a positive relationship and grow students’ self-confidence.

I am delighted to start the school year 2020-2021 here at Seven Oaks Elementary. I feel very confident working with such an enthusiastic and talented faculty and staff. I am looking forward to meeting all my students virtual and face to face. I am sure we will have a great school year!!!
