Grade 8   1.0  High school elective credit

This course is designed as an introduction to the French language and Francophone cultures. It reflects the South Carolina Standard for World Language Proficiency and the national world language standards. Language skills are integrated into thematic units which cover the five goal areas of world language education: Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities. Students will be engaged in activities that promote critical thinking, enhance their communicative ability, and foster the respect and appreciation of cultures other than their own. This credit-bearing course is taught with the same rigor as the high schools. Students are recommended to be enrolled in Honors or Advanced Language Arts to qualify for this course.
