Mrs. Paula McWhirter

My name is Paula McWhirter. I am originally from Shelby, N. C. but have lived in Columbia for the last 29 years. I have taught school for twenty-nine years and this is my twenty first year teaching at Dutch Fork Elementary. I received my National Board Certification nine years ago. I graduated from Clemson University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education, and I was a majorette with the Clemson Tiger Band all four years. Go Tigers!!! I taught baton twirling for many years and was a competition judge for the Drum Majorettes of America. I have a son and a daughter, Will and Molly. Will graduated from Clemson with a major in Food Science, is married,  and is a Registered Dietician in Georgia. Molly graduated from Clemson with a major in Therapeutic Recreation, is married,works as a Preschool Director for her church and lives in Greenville, S.C. I have one grandchild, Tinsley Lane that is one year old. My husband Eddie and I love spending time at home with our zany cute puppy, a Corgi named "Penelope."

My kindergarten assistant is Jeanine Hunter. Jeanine has a bachelors degree from USC in Business. She loves to read and her favorite author is Cassandra Claire. Jeanine has two children, Caroline and Blake. Caroline is 24, a recent graduate of Winthrop and is a recruiter in Charlotte. Blake is 22 and a Senior at USC. He is the drummer for the band, Bellavida. Jeanine enjoys animals. She has two cats and two dogs. Ms. Hunter is thrllled to be at Dutch Fork for her sixth year! Jeanine is engaged to be married. She is also excited to have the opportunity to work with your child! 

We are going to have an exciting year ahead of us in PreK!
