A Little About Me
I was born and raised in a small town in South Carolina called Heath Springs (in the southern part of Lancaster County). I moved to Columbia when I attended the University of South Carolina, where I met my husband Patrick Funk. We have been married for twelve years, and have two sons, Carver and Beckett. My husband is also teacher, teaching English at Chapin High School.
Education and Experience
I have a BA in English and a Masters in Elementary Education from UofSC. I also earned +30 hours of education in literacy. This will be my fifteenth year at Harbison West. My first eleven years were in third grade teaching our core population. Though I loved every moment of it, I am excited to be entering into my fourth year teaching 5th grade ELA and Social Studies in the Escolares Academy. Gifted learners have stretched my thinking as an educator, and I am excited to continue my journey in education in this amazing program.
