The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program at Dutch Fork High School is an honors magnet program that accelerates and enriches learning experiences for students who are academically gifted and have an interest in a STEM-related major and career. The program began in the fall of 2005 with seventeen students who were accepted based on their standardized test scores, middle school teachers' recommendations and interest in STEM-related fields.  Since the beginning, the program has been a great district response to the national STEM initiative.

The STEM designation accelerates learning experiences by allowing ninth grade students to double up in science by taking physical science and biology at the honors level. This opportunity enables them to pursue AP courses, research and internships in their field of interest as early as the tenth grade. STEM courses include integration of studies across the curriculum including accelerated studies in Algebra II and the Humanities. STEM students are immersed in a culture that supports the most highly achievable academic goals.  Successful candidates complete community service and extracurricular activities that attract the attention of the best colleges and universities.
