Q and A with Chapin High’s Morgan Weaver, 2016-2017 Student Body President
- How do you hope to make an impact at your school this coming year?
I hope to make an impact at my school this upcoming year by increasing student involvement. A big part of this will be advertising through social media and posters throughout the school! This past year our student government has done an awesome job and we’ve already seen improvements in school spirit, I hope to continue this trend! Chapin has so many traditions, and I hope that I can be a part of my class leaving a new tradition. This year our seniors are leaving behind a “Legacy Week” to raise money for some of our students, I already have a few ideas for something the class of 2017 can implement that will hopefully leave a lasting impact.
- Explain the best thing about your school?
The best thing about Chapin High School is that everyone here acts like a family. The students all get along very well and support each other, the teachers become not only your mentors but your role models, and you will never have to look very far to see a smiling face in the hallways. As Dr. Ross says, Chapin is truly made up of 1,000 passions with one heartbeat!
- What are your future plans/goals?
I am planning to apply to Clemson University, and I hope to major in Biology! Eventually I would like to be an OBGYN or something in the healthcare industry.
- What do you enjoy doing in your spare time/for fun?
I enjoy reading, hanging out with friends and family, exercising, and playing card games in my free time. For fun I love spending time on Lake Murray, and teaching indoor spin classes for my part-time job at a local gym, Level 2 Cycling!
- What is one thing you’re going to take away from your high school experience?
I think the biggest thing I’m going to take away from my high school experience will be the skills I’ve learned in leading others. Through Student Government I’ve gotten hands on experience with being in charge of events and I think this will be invaluable down the road. Participation in Student Government has taught me so many valuable lessons, and it is something I would recommend to any high school student.
“I am so humbled to have been elected as Chapin High School’s 2016-2017 Student Body President. This is a position I have wanted for as long as I can remember, and I am honored that my peers thought I was the candidate for the job. I cannot wait to see what kind of impact our school can have on our amazing community this upcoming school year!”
