District Five introduces online student registration for 2016-17 school year

IRMO – District Five has a solution for parents to avoid long lines at schedule pickups and writing their names and addresses over and over - an online registration system. Earlier this year, District Five implemented an online registration system called Registration Gateway for new students and beginning July 11th the system was opened to returning students as well. The system will not only save parents time, it will also provide more timely and accurate information.

“Our goal is to make the annual re-registration process easier and parent friendly,” PowerSchool Administrator at District Five Connie Graham said. “This new system will allow parents to complete most of the annual paperwork online as well as allow them to verify and update the information we have in our Student Information System.”  Registration Gateway is a secure system which requires individual user identification, password and authentication. “Keeping our student information secure is very important to us,” said Graham.

One parent in District Five immediately found Registration Gateway convenient. “With five children in three schools, I cannot sing the praises of online registration enough!” Alecia Turner Klauk said. “It was very easy, saved time and my cramped hands. What a great improvement! Thank you District Five!”

Each school year, all returning students to District Five must re-register to attend their school. This is done to ensure all contact information and other pertinent information is up-to-date. Parents will be asked to log into Registration Gateway to verify/update their student(s) information for the upcoming school year. They will be able to verify and update contacts, phone numbers, medical conditions, review annual school and technology agreements, and their student’s privacy selection. Parents will also be able to complete Media Consent forms, District Acceptable Use Agreements, Health Card Information and other important information.

“Ms. Graham and our school registrars have worked very hard to make this new system a reality,” said Mark Bounds, the district’s Chief Information Officer.  “It will be a real time-saver for parents.”

For more information, please visit the Registration Gateway website. Parents are encouraged to do this as soon as possible and needs to be completed prior to schedule pickup.
