School District Five FFA chapter Earns Gold Recognition

IRMO – The Lexington-Richland 5 FFA chapter has earned the distinction in South Carolina as a Gold Chapter for the National Chapter Award.

The National Chapter Award Program is designed to recognize FFA chapters that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization. These chapters improve chapter operations using the National Quality Chapter Standards (NQCS) and a Program of Activities (POA) that emphasize growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture.

“We are so proud of our chapter and hope you will join us in celebrating this honor,” Advisor Jessica Hidalgo said. “Thank you, School District Five, for supporting the Lexington-Richland 5 FFA, our students, and our agricultural education programs.”

In South Carolina, all chapters that submit a National Chapter Award application are recognized at the state convention as earning either a Gold, Silver, Bronze, or Superior distinction. The top 12 chapters, recognized as Gold Chapters, will also be eligible to win the SC Governor’s Citation Award. Three winners will be selected from the Gold Emblem Chapters who score the highest in one of the three National Quality Chapter Standard areas: Growing Leaders, Building Communities, and Strengthening Agriculture. Applications from the 12 Gold Chapters will then advance to the National FFA Organization for judging and recognition at the 98th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, IN.

The National FFA Organization has a growing membership of over 850,000 active FFA members. FFA is an intracurricular student organization that helps students develop leadership, demonstrate personal growth, and achieve career success. Members have the opportunity to apply practical classroom knowledge to real-world experiences through local, state and national competitions.
