School District Five teacher named Palmetto Citizens Teacher of the Game
IRMO – A Lexington-Richland School District Five teacher was selected as the Palmetto Citizens Teacher of the Game for the September 21, 2024 USC Football game against Akron.
Irmo High School Family Consumer Science teacher Tari Watson has been a teacher for 18 years and was so excited to win this recognition.
“I never win anything so for me this was a good pay it forward from the community,” Watson said. “Sometimes teachers don’t always get recognition so it was nice to be selected and it truly warmed my heart!”
Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union was founded by teachers almost 90 years ago. To celebrate teachers and all they do, the bank partnered with the University of South Carolina to recognize a "Palmetto Citizens Teacher of the Game" during each home Gamecock Football game this season.
Teachers may nominate themselves by completing a quick entry form, and one teacher is selected for each game and wins:
· $1,000 from Palmetto Citizens
· 4 tickets to that week's USC Football game
· Recognition on the scoreboard and loudspeaker during the game
To enter palmettocitizens.org/teacherofthegame, you must be a current educator in South Carolina, teaching grades K-12. The deadline to enter to win is October 20, 2024.
