School District Five teacher wins classroom grant from Palmetto State Teachers Association
IRMO – Lexington-Richland School District Five teacher Heather Studer has been selected as a recipient of the 2024 Palmetto State Teachers Association (PSTA) Classroom Grant.
PSTA Director of Teacher Leadership, Craig King surprised Ms. Studer on August 12th with the exciting news that her grant was chosen as a winner.
Ms. Studer is a middle school math teacher at Chapin Middle School. This grant will purchase rechargeable graphing calculators. Calculator use during Ms. Studer’s math class is essential. Mathematical processes are a crucial focus for learning, and she wants to ensure calculations are not a hindrance. Rechargeable calculators would be a tremendous benefit to her classroom and students. This will then allow students to focus on the procedural aspects of math lessons.
This is the third year of the PSTA classroom grants created as part of the Reinvesting in Our Members program. The grants are awarded annually to encourage and support PSTA members as they serve students across our state.
Palmetto State Teachers Association is the largest professional education association for teachers in South Carolina. PSTA provides professional benefits to support its members throughout their careers in education. More information can be found at www.palmettoteachers.org.
