Spring Hill Young Farmers Chapter wins regional and state awards
IRMO – The Spring Hill Young Farmers Chapter won regional and state awards for membership during the annual South Carolina Farmer and Agribusiness Association Convention.
The chapter was recognized as the Region 2 and overall State winner as the chapter with the highest membership
Delegates from the local chapter, including the chapter advisors Kevin Sox, John Asbill, and Jessica Hidalgo, attended the Convention in Greenville, SC on January 25-26, 2025. Attendees experienced many educational and networking opportunities through workshops, vendor engagement, and awards ceremonies. Members also had the opportunity to contribute to student scholarships through silent and live auctions.
The Spring Hill Young Farmers Chapter is a local, adult education group in the community that supports agriculture education in Lexington-Richland School District Five and offers scholarships to School District Five FFA Chapter members. The group meets monthly at the Center for Advanced Technical Studies. Each meeting includes a meal and a guest speaker who discusses a topic relevant to the local and state community. The chapter currently has approximately 90 dues-paying members and hosts around 120 attendees at each meeting. The South Carolina Farmer and Agribusiness Association is a state organization affiliated with the National Young Farmer Education Association. The SCFAA connects farmers and agribusiness leaders and offers educational programs for its members. In addition to the annual convention, SCFAA also sponsors a summer farm tour that highlights agribusinesses in our state. The 2025 Summer Farm Tour will be held in Horry County July 18-19, 2025.
