Chapin High School Varsity Boys Baseball Team Wins Class 5A Division II State Championship

IRMO – The Chapin High School varsity boys baseball team won the South Carolina High School League Class 5A Division II State Championship on May 28, 2026.

The Chapin Eagles beat T.L. Hanna 4-3 in game two of the championship series to sweep the series and win the title.

Eagles head coach Dell Lever led the Eagles to the state championship in his first year coaching the program.

“I told these guys when I first met them that that this was a special place and I knew we had talent on this team,” Coach Dell Lever said. “We took some lumps along the way but we believed and found ways to win. I am so proud of theses boys and this team. It will be hard to top this season!”

It's the Eagles' 12th state championship in program history and first since 2018.

“I am so proud of the players and the coaches,” Chapin High Principal Ed Davis said. “Their hard work, grit, and commitment to excellence made this possible. This is an awesome achievement for our school, the community, and our district! We aRe CHAPIN!”
