Dutch Fork High School wins 5A Division I State Championship

IRMO – The Dutch Fork High School football program has once again won the 5A Division I state championship.

The Silver Foxes defeated Summerville 40-20 to clinch the title December 16 at South Carolina State’s Oliver Dawson Stadium. As a program, Dutch Fork has won 10 state championships since 2013.

“We have great players, great coaches and great administration and I think we do things the right way here at Dutch Fork High School,” Coach Tom Knotts said. “It was special playing with my son as quarterback this season, but luckily I have 75 sons on this team who make every Friday night special for me.”

It was the Silver Foxes’ fourth straight title and now Coach Knotts has won a total of 17 state championships, 7 in North Carolina and 10 with Dutch Fork.

"I'm so proud of what the football program has accomplished this year with their 4th straight state championship,” Dutch Fork High School Principal Reed Gunter said. “Their success really speaks to the dedication of the athletes, coaches, parents, and the community as a whole. Only through their unwavering commitment to the program are they able to replicate this success each year. It's amazing to lead a school where this level of success has become the standard."
