Irmo Middle School to host Pollinator Plant Sale

IRMO - Irmo Middle School will host its annual Pollinator Plant Sale Friday, March 27 (3:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.) and Saturday, March 28 (9 a.m.-12 p.m.) in person at the greenhouse at Irmo Middle, located at 6051 Wescott Road, Columbia, SC 29212 and online Monday, March 30 beginning at 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31 on the school’s website. The community is invited to shop a wide variety of plants grown and prepared by students through the Green Steps program. Patrons are encouraged to use the car loop and gym driveway to access the greenhouse. Proceeds from the sale will be used to continue student learning and greenhouse operations in the future.   

Plants available at the sale include native Milkweed, native pollinator plants, Lantana, Coreopsis, Geraniums, Impatiens, Zinnias, Cosmos, Marigold, Verbena, Coleus, Inch Plan, Purple Heart, Tomatoes, Peppers, other herbs and veggies, and more. Shoppers can purchase plants using cash, check or Venmo. 

The annual sale provides students with valuable real-world experience in plant production and greenhouse management while giving the community an opportunity to purchase locally grown plants just in time for spring planting.
