School District Five approves 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school year calendars

IRMO – The Lexington-Richland School District Five Board of Trustees approved the 2026-2027 and the 2027-2028 Year-Round Modified Academic Calendars during its meeting on Monday, October 27, 2025.

The calendars have school beginning for students in August and ending before Memorial Day. The district will have a Fall Break again during both approved school year calendars.

"Producing the calendar involves balancing requirements from the state, as well as the input from all stakeholders in order to best suit the needs of students, staff and our School District Five community,” said Superintendent Dr. Akil E. Ross, Sr. “Creating a two-year academic calendar allows families to plan ahead and provides stability for our educators, while continuing to prioritize the academic success and well-being of our students."

Other notable calendar features include:

·         Thanksgiving Break: November 25-27, 2026 and November 24-26, 2027

·         Winter Break: December 21-January 1, 2027 and December 20-January 4, 2028

·         Spring Break: March 29-April 2, 2027 and April 14-21, 2028

Half days will be reserved for the last three days of the school year for both of these approved calendars. Possible severe weather make-up days are also included in the calendars that were approved by the Board.
