School District Five names Interim Principal for Piney Woods Elementary School

Irmo- School District Five has named Chad Raynor as the interim principal of Piney Woods Elementary School. He will replace Cassy (Paschal) Young who has been named as the district’s new coordinator of support staff.

"I am honored and humbled to serve as the interim principal at Piney Woods Elementary School,” Raynor said. “I am passionate about ensuring that every student is cared for and has the opportunity to achieve their full potential. I am excited to support the Piney Woods family and I am happy to be here."

Raynor has served as the school’s acting principal for the past few weeks. Previously, he spent eight years as an assistant principal at Leaphart Elementary for the past eight years and also in the same role at Dutch Fork Middle. Raynor was recently named a finalist for SC Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year by the SC Association of School Administrators (SCASA)

“Chad Raynor brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for students, teachers, staff, and the school community,” Superintendent Akil E. Ross, Sr. said. “We are thankful for his continued leadership and know Piney Woods Elementary School will continue to thrive under his supervision.”

Raynor will transition to interim principal on November 17, 2025.
