School District Five names new principal for Piney Woods Elementary School

IRMO – School District Five has named Chad Raynor principal of Piney Woods Elementary School. He replaces Cassy Young who was named as the district’s new coordinator of support staff.

“I am deeply grateful and truly honored to be named the principal of Piney Woods Elementary School,” Raynor said. “Serving as interim principal over the past two months has been a rewarding and humbling experience, and it has only strengthened my admiration for the dedicated staff who work tirelessly each day to support our students. Piney Woods is a special place because of the passionate educators and staff who foster an enthusiastic, inclusive, and welcoming environment. I am excited to continue working alongside this incredible team as we build on the school’s strong foundation and remain committed to providing a safe, supportive, and engaging learning community where every student can reach their full potential.”

Raynor previously spent eight years as an assistant principal at Leaphart Elementary and served in the same role at Dutch Fork Middle from 2010-2017. Raynor was recently named a finalist for SC Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year by the SC Association of School Administrators (SCASA).

“Mr. Raynor brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for students, teachers, staff, and the school community,” Superintendent Akil E. Ross, Sr. said. “We are thankful for his continued leadership and know Piney Woods Elementary School will continue to thrive under his supervision.”
