School District Five Bridge Development League announces Fall 2026 Tackle and Flag Football Registration

IRMO – Lexington-Richland School District Five and Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission (ICRC) announce Fall 2026 Bridge League Development registration for tackle football and flag football. The partnership between ICRC and School District Five helps children build fundamental skills, understand game rules, and prepare for competitive play. 

The fall league will focus on tackle football for boys ages 11-13 and flag football for boys and girls ages 11-14. Registration is open July 16-August 13, 2026. The season will begin late August. The league is open to all children, regardless of school district. Registration for winter basketball will begin November 2026. 

Children will be able to play for their zoned school team and mascot (Irmo, Chapin, or Dutch Fork) wearing district school colored and logoed jerseys. The League aims to provide a place for all to play for their school with pride, improve skills and sportsmanship, while having fun. 

League games and practices will take place at ICRC and School District Five facilities. The season costs $90 and scholarships are available to ensure everyone plays.

Youth sports have been shown to contribute to higher graduation rates and benefit children by reducing anxiety and depression, improving mood and well-being, increasing self-esteem, enhancing social and life skills, and improving academic performance.

• CHAPIN Bridge League Flag Football

Evaluations for Flag Football will be held at CCP Baseball Field #1 on Mon., Aug. 24 at 7:15 p.m. Flag Football will meet twice a week. Participants are required to wear a mouthpiece for all practices and games. Cleats are optional.  Participants will receive a game jersey. Ages 11-14, $90 at Melvin Park. Monday and Wednesday, Aug. 31-Oct. 26 from 8:00-9:00 p.m. 

• SALUDA SHOALS PARK Bridge League Flag Football

Flag Football will meet twice a week. Participants are required to wear a mouthpiece for all practices and games. Cleats are optional. Participants will receive a game jersey. Ages 12-14, $90 at Saluda Shoals Park. Monday and Wednesday, Aug. 31-Oct. 28 from 6:15-7:15 p.m.

• CHAPIN Bridge League Tackle Football

Participants will have 1-2 practices and one game per week. Participants are required to have a mouthpiece, shoulder pads, pants with pads, and a helmet with chinstrap. A game jersey and socks are provided. Players must come into the park for registration to be weighed. 13 year olds must weigh 134 lbs or less to play in this league. Ages 11-13, $90 at Melvin Park. Monday and Wednesday, Aug. 26-Nov. 4 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. 13 year olds that weigh 135 or less can play in this league. 

• SEVEN OAKS PARK Bridge League Tackle Football

Participants will have two practices and one game per week. A mouthpiece, shoulder pads, pants with pads, and a helmet with chinstrap are required. A game jersey and socks are provided. Players must come into the park for registration to be weighed. 13 year olds that weigh 135 or less can play in this league. Ages 11-13, $90 at Seven Oaks Park. Monday and Thursday, Aug. 24-Nov. 5 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. 13 year olds that weigh 135 or less can play in this league.
