School District Five students earn artistic honors at TriDAC

IRMO – Lexington-Richland School District Five is proud to celebrate the incredible talents of five outstanding students who were recently honored for their exceptional work at the Tri-District Arts Consortium (TriDAC) summer program.

·         Me'Leah Council (Dutch Fork High) - Teachers' Choice Award in Dance

·         Ana Gomez (Irmo Middle) - Stephen Nevitt Award in Visual Art

·         Alexandria Jacques (Dutch Fork High) - Barbara H. Thomson Award in Creative Writing

·         Ryan Kim (Chapin High) - Brent Wilson Award in Strings II

·         Ma'Kayla Davis (Irmo High) - Dr. Anne Richardson Award in Dance=

Founded in 1985, TriDAC provides a prestigious elite training ground for artistically gifted and talented students in grades fifth through eighth who attend the public schools in Lexington One, Lexington-Richland School District Five and Richland Two. Securing a spot in the program is no small feat—it requires a rigorous three-step process including nominations from teachers or parents, a formal application, and a competitive audition across one of seven art areas: Creative Writing, Dance, Chorus, Drama, Visual Art, Band or Orchestra.

Once selected, these dedicated young artists immersed themselves in an intensive, three-week summer camp led by highly qualified, expert educators. The program culminated in a spectacular series of public showcases, allowing students to share their hard work and passion with the community.
