School District Five names veteran educator as new coordinator of virtual program
IRMO – Veteran educator Jerusha Spain has been named the new coordinator of School District Five’s Flexible Innovative Virtual Education (FIVE) Program.
"I am tremendously honored and excited to be named the Coordinator of FIVE,” Spain said. “This opportunity allows me to expand upon our current success and pioneer new strategies that will empower students to thrive in a virtual learning environment!"
Spain has more than 15 years of experience in education, including roles as a high school assistant principal and coordinator of adult education. She attended the University of Washington earning a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences. Spain also earned two master’s degree from Western Governors University in Educational Leadership and Teaching Social Science. She currently serves as a Logistics Officer in the South Carolina Army National Guard.
“Mrs. Spain is an enthusiastic leader who has focused on building positive and supportive relationships with students, faculty and parents to support the growth of all students,” Chief of Academics Tina McCaskill said. “We are confident that her depth of experience will help our FIVE program continue to evolve and succeed.”
