What is Title I?
Title I is the largest federal education program supported through the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. Schools are identified for Title I support based on the socio economic status of the students that attend. Regulations require that schools involve a team of stakeholders, including staff, parents, and community members in determining how funds are best used to meet the needs of a school. Title I schools are held accountable for and support student achievement, school improvement, staff development, and family engagement.

Multilingual Learner Program & World Language
Julie L. Schelble
Through an exploratory study of world languages, students will gain a foundation for language learning in order to become familiar with a variety of cultures, thus improving their global awareness and appreciation of diversity. Upon pursuit of an academic or employment track, these building blocks provide the support for a strong future in a global society.

Special Services
Who are we?
District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties Special Education Services provides a free appropriate public education to children with disabilities ages 3 to 21 in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Our faculty and staff of over 200 teachers, assistants, therapists and other specialists are trained to provide specialized instruction and assistance designed to meet the individual needs of students identified as having disabilities under the IDEA. When a student is found eligible for special education, an Individualized Education Program (IEP) Team will consider a range of educational programs and related services and determine the level and type(s) of support the student may need. It is the mission of the IEP team to collaborate and support individuals with disabilities in the general education program to the maximum extent appropriate.
