Magnet and Choice Application & Timeline

Applications Will Open for the 2027-2028 School Year on November 19, 2026

1. Families are invited to attend the first Magnet Fair on November 19th or the second Magnet Fair on January 14th to learn about the Magnet Schools/Programs in our district.

2. Applications will open on Thursday, November 19, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., and close on Wednesday, January 20, 2027 at 12:00 p.m. Noon. This is not based on first come, first served. This is a lottery.

3. Families will be notified of their Magnet/Choice Placements on Friday, January 29, 2027, AFTER 4:00 p.m. These are rolling notifications by school. Notifications can come as late as 9:00 p.m.

4. Once you have received your placement notification, you MUST accept or decline your offer by Tuesday, February 2, 2027, at 12:00 p.m./NOON.

5. If you choose to decline your second choice offer and be placed in the waiting pool for your first choice, your student will remain on the list, in the order in which they were originally drawn.  Should a spot become available, the Magnet Office will contact you directly. At that time, you must accept or decline.
