Dr. Roberts

Dr. Roberts was born in Fort Worth, Texas on a Wednesday.  Her birth announcement said that she was able to make church choir practice that evening, but really she didn't start pre-school choir until age 3.  She went to Kindergarten in West Memphis, Arkansas where she played the steady beat on the bass drum in the Kindergarten Band.  Her family moved to Columbia, SC where she began first grade in Richland School District One.  She attend Schnieder Elementary, Watkins Elementary, Crayton Middle and graduated from Dreher High School.  She played violin and cello in the school and youth orchestras, french horn in the bands and sang soprano in the school choir.  Gloria Westmoreland was her choral instructor and taught her first music theory class.  She also sang in the graded choir programs at her church and rang handbells.  She studied piano during high school and took her first voice lessons with Lanny Palmer at Columbia College as a H.S. Senior.  

Dr. Roberts holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in voice performance and music education from Converse College, a Masters of Music in Voice Performance from Florida State University and a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Voice Performance from the University of South Carolina.  She has been a National Board Certified Teacher since 2006 and is renewed through 2026!  

Dr. Roberts has a small farm in Chapin where she has horses, chickens, cats and dogs and does a little farming.  She is a member of the Lake Murray Presbyterian Church where she sings in the Chancel Choir and directs the Children's Choir.
