Welcome to Our Class!
My name is Lori Wenzinger, and I teach Leadership & Service Learning. I was born and raised in the Washington, DC area. We moved to South Carolina in 2007. I have been married to my best friend for 40 years. I am the mother of four adult children and the grandmother of twin grandsons. My favorite activities include walking, playing with my three dogs, spending time with family, travel, reading, and baking.
Throughout my career, I have led multiple professional development classes on curriculum and teaching methods at the district, state, and national level. My awards include: SCCSS Outstanding Lesson: Civic Engagement & Taking Action Award, the national Civil Rights/Civil Liberties: Excellence in Teaching Award (Nystrom Education, SocialStudies.com), Outstanding Teacher Service Award (SC Economics), and the Above and Beyond Award (Richland Soil and Water Conservation District).
This is my 29th year teaching. As a middle school teacher, I seek to engage students through a process of inquiry and self discovery. I encourage students to be change makers. "We move what we're learning from our heads, to our hearts, through our hands." (Brene Brown)
