Mrs. Nicole Bishop
Hi! My name is Nicole Bishop. I have spent 22 years in education and I can say with 100% assurance, I chose the right line of work, because children, teaching and learning are my heart.
Speaking of my heart, my God, my husband Michael, and our two daughters, Kathryn (14) and Elizabeth (12) are the light of my life and fill me with joy beyond words and measure. I am blessed and rich in ways that I cannot always understand or express, although I try. Michael is a hydrogeologist with DHEC. He loves to rehabilitate old cars and motorcycles, can fix anything, is always helping others and his common sense is my daily guidepost. Kathryn and Elizabeth are the blessings in our life. They are very affectionate, funny and thoughtful. I could write books about each one and have, so I'll stop with saying that each one is uniquely amazing, just like every one of God's children.
I ove animals and woud have lots if I could (I am also allergic). We have a cute, little, female, short-haired tabby named Tiggy - she's an outside cat, but she comes in whenver we want or whenever she wants!
We love the outdoors, all things green and especially the mountains in the fall, spring and winter. We are mountain people making due without mountains to look at and climb everyday. We loooooove the beach too and enjoy every moment and every breeze of our yearly summer family trip to Edisto Island. We have been going since our youngest was 10 months old and she is now 12. But still, when we are in mountain country, we are "home". I came face to face with a mama and baby moose in Yellowstone once... I will never forget it. We were engaged in the Smokies; another 2nd home.
I taught for two years in Chattanooga, TN (Chatt. is our home away from home) before teaching for 5 at IES and 1 at BES. Then I had Kathryn and moved into the world of part-time work so I could be with the girls and keep them at home. It was wonderful. I literacy coached in D5 for two years and then taught USC undergraduate early childhood education majors and supervised USC interns for 4 years at IES.
Now I am in my 8th year back in the classroom. I love kids, I love teaching and I LOVE to learn.
I enjoy writing and reading, going to our awesome church (RHBC) and playing with my girls more than anything else. I also like being silly and just having fun in the moment. Life is to be lived. I love to laugh.
Michael and I have close and wonderful families, so we spend lots of time together and wouldn't have it any other way.
Life is grand. Our cups overflow. Thank you for the privilege of teaching and learning along-side your child this year. I know you love yours like I love mine. Having children has made me a better teacher, although I am still learning...always learning, always growing.. never done...
