Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina

Mrs. Chelsea Metz

Hello IES family!

This year I am teaching Second Grade.  I am so excited to be at IES again this year for my fifth year of teaching and I look forward to working with your kiddos!

Education/Experience

I graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 2015.  I am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Teaching with a Literacy and Reading Specialization and will soon be a SC Read to Succeed Literacy Teacher.  I previously taught 4th and 5th grade.

Family & Friends

I have been married for almost four years.  My husband's name is Tommy. He works for Dominion Energy!  We have a sassy two-year-old named Harper! She is changing so much every day!  I love watching her grow! My family means so much to me!

My extended family does not live in South Carolina.  That actually is a nice thing because I love to travel!  My mom's family lives in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina.  My dad's family lives in Virginia and Pennsylvania! My sister lives in Washington!  My husband's family does, however, live in South Carolina (all of them)! So our weekends and holidays are pretty packed.  Most of my friends are teachers!

Pets

I am an animal lover.  They bring so much joy and laughter to a family (much the same as children do).  I have two pets. The first is a 10-year-old dachshund named Luna. She is beautiful and long!  She loves to go on walks and she LOVES to dig. She has dirt on her nose most of the time. That's okay though because I like to take her to Wet Nose Oasis for a bath.  The second is a four-year-old (also a dachshund) named Lilly. She is a fireball... always wiggly and ready to play!

Hobbies/Enjoyments

As I mentioned before, I love to travel.  I recently visited New York City!  I enjoy reading and writing and working out! I love spending time with my family and friends too!

I love sharing my life with my students and their families.  I can't wait for our year together! :)
