Mrs. Lisa Brooks

My name is Lisa Brooks, and I am the Magnet Lead Teacher at Nursery Road Elementary School-Arts Magnet! This is my 11th year in the district, but my this is my 27th year teaching!

I have moved into a new role last school year, and am excited to take on new responsibilities and be involved in our Magnet process in a more in-depth manner.  Being a Magnet School requires us to have fidelity to the grant in many ways, all of which is centered around student achievement.  I am honored to be a part of this process first hand, and will commit to helping Nursery Road achieve greater things as we travel this journey together!

What is the theme of this magnet school?

Nursery Road Elementary utilizes an arts-integrated curriculum that extends into all aspects of a student’s learning experience. Related Arts classrooms transform into vibrant studios that incite creativity and collaboration in the teaching and learning process. The studios set the foundation for whole-school integration of the arts.

What makes this magnet unique?

The Related Arts rotation includes programs in General Music Studio, Visual Arts Studio, Artist in Residency Programs, Instrumental Music (strings, guitar, keyboards and percussion), Recording Studio, Theater Arts and Dance, and Multimedia Arts. The rigorous curriculum includes arts integrated lessons, which are designed and co-taught by the related arts teachers and the classroom teachers.
