Miss Kari Norsen

Welcome to Miss Norsen's Fourth Grade class!

My name is Kari Norsen and this will by my 13th year in the teaching profession. I attended SUNY Cortland for my Bachelor's in health science before moving on to Roberts Wesleyan College for my Master's degree in education. I am dual certified in general education and special education. My career in education started in NY as a long-term subsitute in a special education classroom. From there, I made the decision to move south for warmer weather and ended up in South Florida teaching third grade for the Palm Beach School District. After 5 years of the subtropical weather, I decided to move to South Carolina for the more moderate weather and season changes. I have been teaching in District 5 ever since!

I was born and raised in Sodus Point, New York, surrounded by beautiful Lake Ontario and apple orchards. I am a country girl at heart and lover of all animals (except snakes!). My fiance and I are proud parents to two cats named Bubalou and Sassy, and a very spoiled black lab named Jake. They are all very sweet and the center of our world. When we're not working, we are traveling back to New York and Pennsylvania to see family and friends or exploring new places that we've never been before.

This is my 5th year teaching fourth graders and I have to admit that it is my favorite age group of children! I am looking forward to what the 2018-2019 school year will bring with all of the new changes to our school since becoming and Arts Magnet. The students are going to have some exciting and unique opportunities to learn and grow through the arts integration program. We will all be learning and having fun together!
