Miss Guffey

Hello, my name is Sarah Guffey. I am from Kingsport, Tennessee, where I attended King University. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. While at King, I also received the Student Teacher of the Year Award and the Intermediate Spanish Award. I have been teaching for fifteen years, and am certified to teach K-6 in South Carolina. I am honored to have received the Teacher of the Year Award for the 2016-2017 school year. I have taught kindergarten, first, and second grades. First grade is my favorite! I am looking forward to helping my students solve problems, work collaboratively together, and set their own learning goals.

My entire life, I have always wanted to be a teacher. My goal as an educator is to instill a passion in my students to become lifelong learners. I want them to believe in themselves and know that I believe in them too. I also want to create a positive community of learners within my classroom where students work together and respect one another. I teach so children will believe in themselves and go after their dreams. I am looking forward to a great school year!
