Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Perri Anne Bentley
Welcome to Third Grade!!
My name is Perri Anne Bentley and I am beginning my 26th year of teaching! Seventeen of those years were spent teaching kindergarten. I began my teaching career in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, at Lakewood Elementary school. I moved to Irmo 16 years ago and have been here ever since! Nine years ago, I decided it was time for a change, so I moved to third grade, and I absolutely LOVE it!
I received a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, from Coastal Carolina in 1991, and a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from USC. I received my +30 last summer, with a certification in Language and Literacy. , also through USC. Suprise you? USC is a great school, HOWEVER...I was born and raised a CLEMSON TIGER, and will forever be true to Clemson! GO TIGERS!!
I live in Irmo with my spouse and our 3 dogs, Bugsie (12 yrs), Ginger (10 yrs), Piper (4 months), and our black cat named Twilight (6 yrs). Bugsie is a Lhasa Apso, Ginger is a Papillon, and Piper is a Yorkie. I enjoy reading, writing, singing, boating, camping, and going to the beach!
I strive to make our classroom a safe place for students to learn and grow. I am firm believer that in order to get respect, you must first give it. My goal is to grow a classroom family of respectful, kind, compassionate students who, although diverse from one another, will grow in love and respect. Academics are a huge part of third grade, but in order to get the academics down, a child must first feel safe, loved, and respected.
