Mrs. Dawn LaRosa

Hi! My name is Dawn LaRosa. I am a product of Lexington Richland School District Five. I graduated from Irmo High School in 1989. In 1994 I received a Bachelor's Degree from Columbia College in Elementary Education. I am a life-long learner. I received a Masters Degree in Learning Disabilities from the University of South Carolina in 1997. In 2004 I earned National Board Certification and renewed it in November 2013, and again in 2023. I also obtained my Education Specialist Degree in teaching from USC in August of 2013.

This is my 27th year teaching in Lexington School District Five. I taught 5 years at Dutch Fork Elementary before helping to open up Ballentine Elementary, where I have now taught for 21 years.

My husband and I have two wonderful sons, who were once Ballentine Bears. My family has an orange tabby cat named Ginger and a wired-haired terrier named Boomer.

My favorite color is purple. My favorite sports teams are The Citadel, Atlanta Braves, and Carolina Panthers. My favorite food is pizza. I am a candyholic- Sugar Babies, Take Five candy bars, Sour Patch Kids, and Twizzlers are a few of my all time favorites. I love to read and write! My favorite book is Strega Nona by Tomie DePaola. My favorite place in the whole wide world is Edisto Beach. Reading novels, searching for shark's teeth and riding around on the golf cart is what the LaRosas like to do while we are there.
