Welcome Fellow Scientists!
In science class you will use your scientific skills to explore the world around and within you. Biology and Anatomy are designed to give you deeper knowledge in areas you have covered before, as well as to provide new knowledge that will enable you to become better scientists and scientifically literate adults!
I want you to enjoy and understand what we cover in class. If you need extra assistance, please contact me! (email or in person is best)
We will be using Google Classroom this year for assignments, information, and communication. All students are given a class code. Through Google Classroom students also have access to all slides and presentations used in class. This is helpful when studying or during absences. There is no excuse!
You may sign up to receive weekly reports from Google Classroom showing activity, missing and graded assignments, and upcoming due dates. If you would like to receive parent access, please email me (with your student's name) and I will add you to the appropriate classroom for your student.
I grew up in a small town on the coast of Maine (Camden), where I played clarinet in the band and lettered in field hockey, cheerleading, and tennis. After graduating with a biology degree from Middlebury College in Vermont, I moved out west to attend graduate school in Colorado. While there, I spent as much free time as I could afford on the ski slopes as a break from long hours in the laboratory. I was fortunate to work with leading researchers in the field of type 1 Diabetes for my thesis, focusing on the immune response to transplanted tissues in the quest for a cure. Ultimately I left research, spent time raising two young children, and decided to bring my background, knowledge, and skills into the classroom. I take this task very seriously and feel very priviledged to work with so many amazing teens each day.
