Ms. Carolyn Barnette Diaz

I grew up in Spartanburg, SC and graduated from Spartanburg High School.  I received my Bachelor of Science in Business Adminstration from Berea College in Berea, KY.  Working through the critical needs program at the SC State Department of Education, I earned my teaching certificate in Business Education.  I received my M.Ed. in Classroom Leadership from Southern Wesleyan University and have earned an additonal 30+ graduate hours with a focus in technology.  I taught at Pine Ridge Middle School for seven years before coming to Irmo High School. This is my twelfth year at Irmo High School.  I also teach graduate-level Professional Development courses in technology for our school district.

At Irmo High School, I am a business education, technology, and leadership teacher.  This year I am teaching the new course for the computer science graduation requirement, Fundamentals of Computing.  I also teach a Leadership class for Student Government.  I am the Student Council Sponsor.  I serve as the department head for the Career and Technical Education Department.
