Mrs. Georgette Richards

Welcome to Mrs. Richards webpage!

This is my 13th year teaching Chemistry at Chapin High School. This year I will teach CP Chemistry and Honors Chemistry.   I graduated from Clemson University with a BS in Food Science with an emphasis in Chemistry. For my first career, I worked as a Chemist for General Foods and Pepsico Corporation.   I continued my education at Manhattanville College in New York, where I received my Masters in the Art of teaching secondary science. My teaching career begun in Westchester, New York before moving to teach at Chapin.

Chemistry is a laboratory science in which students learn problem solving skills, technical writing, and the ability to evaluate the world around them on a micro level. Chemistry is a challenging course which draws on  prior academic skills of math, reading and writing. I encourage students to review notes and complete home assignment in a timely manner to aid in  concept understanding.

Powerschool is a great way for  students and parents to review grades and monitor completed assignments. Communication can also occur through google classroom and this website to help students access notes, hand outs, or  links for content enrichment.

My enrichment times are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00-12:30. Encourage your student to come to enrichment for personal attention if they feel as though they are failing behind.
