Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Estelene Nichols

Greetings from the Guidance Office! I am Estelene Nichols and I was born and raised in a small town called Bloomsburg, PA. I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters (one deceased) who are all (except one) older than me. I went to college at a school outside of Boston called Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA. I received my degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education with a minor in English and Psychology and graduated in 1984. After graduation, I moved to Houston, Texas to be closer to my sister and her family. She and her husband had 3 children. I taught PK for one year, 1st grade for four years, 2nd grade for three years and 6th grade for ten years. In 1994, my brother-in-law passed away of a brain aneurysm. Then in October of 2001, my sister passed away from leukemia. I then became an instant mom of three teenagers! After she passed away, I decided to go back to school to get my degree in counseling. I graduated in 2005 with a Masters degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Houston. I was a guidance counselor in an elementary school in Katy, TX (a suburb of Houston) for three years. The older niece and nephew went to college and got married. The younger nephew graduated from high school in 2008 and was preparing to go to college. I then decided to move closer to my other sister who lived in Columbia, SC! My sister's daughter has 8 children and I wanted to be closer to them! After interviewing with Dr. Franchini, I became the guidance counselor at H. E. Corley! I love giving a voice to children who need to be heard. I am very involved in my church (Nazarene) and I love to travel! I've been to 42 of the 50 states and I've been to Argentina, Mexico, Canada, and went to Italy a few summers ago! I love trying new restaurants and enjoy live living with my sister in Irmo.  I spend most of my traveling by visiting my nephew and family and they just had a new baby about a year ago.  My niece lives in Cypress and she has 2 boys!  My oldest nephew lives in Maryland and they have a boy and a girl!  I am so excited to be working with new administration this year!  Please feel free to call me with any questions.

  • Welcome back everyone!

I am excited about starting a new school year!  It's hard to believe it's already the 2018-2019 school year!  I am so anxious to see all the students returning to school on August 22nd!  Come by my office and say hello!
