I have worked as a professional educator since 1998. My service in District Five began in 2004, teaching 6th grade English Language Arts at Chapin Middle School. I am Highly Qualified in Elementary Education and Middle-Level English Language Arts and achieved my Gifted and Talented endorsement in 2005. In 2007, I successfully completed the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification in the area of English Language Arts/Early Adolescence and renewed my certification in 2016. In 2013 I completed my Read to Succeed certification. In addition to teaching 7th grade ELA, I serve CMS as our book club leader.
Outside of school, I very much enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, cooking, exercising at Crooked Creek Park, and hiking trails in the South Carolina State Parks. I am also involved in my church and the local community.
I enjoying working with students and look forward to my fifth year leading Chapin Middle School's Book Club!
