Mrs. Felicia A. Kopelman

My name is Felicia Ann Kopelman and I have been teaching Social Studies in Lexington Richland Five middle schools since 2010.  I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and International Affairs from Florida State University and a juris doctor degree from the University of Florida College of Law.  After practicing law for eleven years, I decided to combine my love for history and young adults and enter the classroom.  I taught 8th Grade South Carolina History for three years at Dutch Fork Middle School and then transfered to Chapin Middle where I have been teaching the last eight years.  I taught 7th Grade World History for seven years and Geography last year.  Now I am back full circle in 8th grade teaching SC History once again.

I hold a certification in Social Studies for the middle and secondary levels and I am considered "Highly Qualified" by the State of South Carolina in the areas of Social Studies and Government.  I also hold the "Gifted and Talented" and "Read2Succeed" endorsements and I am a trained mentor for teachers.  Currently, I am working on my "Online Teaching" endorsement and I am serving as the Social Studies Department Head for 8th Grade. I have also been known to sponsor the Chess Club!

I am married with two teenage sons who are both in college this year. In addition, I have a cairn terrier named Blitz. In my free time, I enjoy traveling with my family where I can use my experiences to enhance my teaching of history and geography. I am also a dual citizen of the U.S. and Italy, an avid Florida State fan, and a good cook.
