Mrs. Tess Pratt

This year marks my 24th year in the classroom!   I graduated from Olivet College in Olivet, Michigan in 1988 where I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secondary Education with a major in English and a minor in social studies.  Since then, I attained highly qualified endorsements at both the high school and middle school levels in English as well as in social studies. My first teaching assignment was at Irmo High School in 1990, and I became a member of Dutch Fork High School's first faculty in 1993. Later, I taught at Michigan Center High School and at Traverse City West Senior High School. While a teacher in Michigan, I was selected to participate in the Third Coast Writing Project. In 2009, my family returned to South Carolina where I taught at Pelion Middle for one year and at St. Joseph’s Catholic School for two years.  In addition to my teaching duties, I also serve as Chapin High School's English Department Chairperson and am honored to serve on the superintendent's Faculty Advisory Committee as the 2019-20 Teacher of the Year. I have been happily married to Jeff Pratt for twenty-one years and am the proud mother of three daughters.  Kelsey is a 2018 graduate of Chapin High School and is a junior at the College of Charleston.  McKenna is a 2019 CHS graduate and is currently a sophomore at the University of South Carolina Honors College, and Riley is a senior at Chapin High School.
