Lauren Prochak, Principal
Mrs. Prochak is a native to District 5. She attended Harbison West Elementary, Irmo Middle and Irmo High. She graduated from Converse College with dual certification in Special Education: Deaf/Hard of Hearing and Elementary Education. She began her teaching career in Lexington One at Lake Murray Elementary and then joined Pleasant Hill Elementary for their opening year. Mrs. Prochak completed her MEd in Divergent Learning at Columbia College and her administration degree from the University of the Cumberlands. In 2011, Mrs. Prochak joined the administration team at Chapin Elementary. She was named Principal in 2014. Her favorite thing about being principal is being around the students, staff, and parents. Receiving smiles and high fives from students is her favorite way to begin the work day!
Mrs. Prochak enjoys spending time with her husband and two children playing card games, riding on the paddle board or in her jeep, and listening to her brothers sing to the guitar on the back porch. They slow down for Sunday dinners with her parents, brothers, and grandparents each week.
Margaret LaForce, Assistant Principal
Mrs. La Force has been an administrator and teacher in District 5 for almost twenty years. She taught first grade and was a lead reading teacher in District 5. Prior to that, she taught grades k - 3 in North Carolina and Tennessee. Mrs. La Force joined the Chapin Elementary administrative team in 2014. She joined Chapin Elementary after serving at Lake Murray Elementary as Administrative Assistant Principal. Mrs. La Force earned her MEd. from Milligan College in Tennessee, and her MEd. in administration from the University of South Carolina. She attended Clemson University for specialized training in reading instruction. She is currently working toward an Ed.D. in curriculum and instruction at Liberty University. Mrs. La Force enjoys visiting her five grown children and ten grandchildren in various cities in Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina.
Julie White, Admin Assistant Principal
Mrs. White has been a part of District 5 for the past ten years, but this will be her first year joining the administrative team at Chapin Elementary School. During her time in this district, Mrs. White had the honor of teaching at Dutch Fork and Chapin Elementary, as well as serving as the math coach at Leaphart Elementary School. Mrs. White graduated from Newberry College with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and received a Masters in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. Mrs. White and her husband have two children who love going on trips, spending lazy days together watching movies, and visiting with family and friends throughout the year. She is looking forward to a great school year and working alongside the finest administrators, teachers, students, and parents this district has to offer.
