My name is Kylie Skotniski and I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to be working with our fabulous teachers and your wonderful children as the Reading Coach and MTSS (multi-tiered systems of support) Specialist at Harbison West Elementary School! It is truly a special place to teach and grow students and you can feel the heartbeat of the school when you walk through the building.
I am originally from a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. Go Browns, Cavs, Guardians, and Buckeyes!!! I attended the University of Toledo where I received my Bachelor's degree in early childhood education along with specialty areas of study in special education and child psychology. I also have a Master's degree in language and literacy. This is my eleventh year at Harbison West, where I was named the Harbison West and District 5 Distinguished Teacher of Reading by the Columbia Area Reading Council for the 2013-2014 school year. WLTX News 19 named me as WLTX Teacher of the Week in March 2014 and May 2016. I taught for six years in Saluda County, prior to my time at Harbison West, where I was named Hollywood Elementary Teacher of the Year and District Teacher of the Year for Saluda County Schools in 2009.
I have a wonderful, supportive husband and, together, we have an athletic little boy named Camden, who is eight. He keeps us busy with baseball, football, and golf. We also have a darling little girl named Elle, who is four. She is a beautiful ballerina and also dances on the company competition team in addition to tumbling and cheerleading. When we are not at a sporting event, I enjoy traveling with my family to learn about new places and cultures.
