Ms. Jean Hudson
Welcome to CrossRoads Intermediate School! My name is Jean Hudson, and I am a School Counselor at CRIS. I love my career as a School Counselor. and have worked at the Elementary, Middle and High-School levels. However, my favorite age/grade, by far, is working with 6th graders; no two days are the same, and every day holds discoveries and growth. If this is your first year as a parent of a 6th-grader, you are in for a rewarding experience, watching your child grow by leaps and bounds. I have been working at CRIS since its inception as a one-year, 6th-grade, intermediate school, and the concept is amazing! We do a fabulous job of cherishing and challenging your child to master the "baby steps" from elementary school towards the giant leap into middle-school. What could be more successful than a special year for this significant step?
I grew up in Upstate New York, and received my B.A. in Elementary Education from The Catholic University of America. I then went on to receive my M.A. in Guidance and Counseling, K-12, from Colgate University. I am National Board certified, and National Board Renewal Certified in School Counseling/Early Childhood through Young Adulthood. I've lived in New York State, Wisconsin and South Carolina, and I don't miss 8 months of snow-shoveling, one single bit! My husband and I have 4 children, 2 little granddaughters and 2 dogs. My office is filled with family and pet photos, fidget toys and stuffed animals - which usually makes a 6th-grader feel like there's a "little bit of home", here at school.
Please feel free to call me at my school number: 803-476-8362, should you have concerns, questions or just need some reassurance that "the 5th-grade child you knew last year" is still somewhere inside "the 6th-grader that your child is becoming".
