Where Children Are Cherished And Challenged
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year with the CrossRoads Cougar Orchestra!
Welcome to the CRIS orchestra web page! By clicking on the corresponding links on the left, you can print out practice records, go shopping, read informational letters that may not make it home, or listen to the music we are working on so far this year. Please be sure to read our beginning of the school year welcome letter. In it, you will find information that will help you prepare ahead of time and get off to a good start for the school year. Enjoy!
Students DO NOT need instruments for our first class meeting! They will need a pencil and their orchestra notebooks. I look forward to meeting our new orchestra chickadees this year!
It is very important to me that we enjoy successful communication this year. I send updates and special reminders to interested orchestra parents every Friday through an e-mail distribution system. To become part of this important distribution list, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org indicating you would like to be added to the list. Please place your student's name in the subject line. I only send information pertaining to the orchestra classes (well, except for the really corny jokes at the end), and respect your privacy by keeping your e-mail and phone information private. I look forward to hearing from all of you!
Orchestra students will be responsible for keeping up with weekly practice logs this year. Any activity that any of us participates in is so much more fun when we are prepared and when we feel we are making progress. The best way to make this happen in through daily practice. Just like doing math or language arts homework each night, students should be planning to spend 15 to 20 minutes per night practicing the material we go over in class. Practice records should be signed by a parent each Sunday night. Each week of practice will be turned in during class the following week. Follow the dates printed on the practice records and you will always be current--this also serves as a handy A/B schedule as well! You can download and print a copy of our current practice record by clicking on information link to the left.
MP3 recordings of our music will available on the listening page located in the navigation bar on the left side of the screen. Students can click to listen, or download onto their own MP3 device to listen and practice along whenever they would like!
If you are looking for great prices on rosin, extra strings, shoulder rests, music stands, etc., please click on the orchestra supplies link on the left side of this page.
