Mrs. Dana Charles

Hi! I am Miss Dana and I am the Occupational Therapist here at H. E. Corley Elementary School. I work with students that have difficulties with fine motor skills such as writing, fastening, and cutting skills. I also help students that have sensory concerns, such as not wanting to touch certain textures or not wanting to eat certain types of foods. These are all important skills students need to have the best experience at school possible!

I knew I wanted to be an Occupational Therapist since the 10th grade after volunteering may hours as a candy striper at my local hospital. I graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 1991 and began my career at Walton Rehab Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. There I worked with acute rehab patients including children.

I joined School District 5 in 2010 and have primarily worked with the preschool population. The transition from the medical model to the educational model has been very exciting. I thoroughly enjoy watching the students learn new skills that will help them be successful in school!
